MC Hammersmith
MC Hammersmith is a multi-award winning hip hop comedian. He is the world’s leading rapper to ever emerge from the ghetto of middle class west London. Now based in Edinburgh, he performs across the UK and internationally.
In his live shows, MC Hammersmith performs improvised hip hop comedy. He is a freestyle rapper – meaning he raps spontaneously, unscripted, with absolutely no preparation. The lyrics and rhymes of his raps are 100% improvised and based entirely on audience suggestions. In this guise he has won numerous comedy awards, sold out multiple consecutive runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has supported Jason Manford on his arena tour of the UK.
His scripted hip hop comedy tracks have gone viral on numerous platforms, most notably racking up 200 million views on TikTok. Having started releasing videos during the first COVID-19 lockdown, he now boasts nearly a million followers across social media.
He is also an improvisational comedian in some of the world’s biggest touring improv shows – he can frequently be spotted improvising with Shamilton, and Baby Wants Candy, and Spontaneous Potter at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He is also a writer for acclaimed YouTube series Epic Rap Battles of History.
He has performed at four consecutive Edinburgh Fringe Festivals with Monkey Barrel Comedy, where he is also a regular weekend headliner throughout the year. He has been performing at Monkey Barrel ever since they opened in 2016!
