Daniel Downie

Scottish comedian and historian of Scottish history Daniel Downie is the host and creator of the ‘hysterical and historical’ award-winning ‘Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh’, ‘Mountebank Comedy Whisky Tasting’ and ‘Mountebank History of Scotland’ series.

Daniel has taken several shows about Scottish history to the Edinburgh Fringe, covering topics such as Mary Queen of Scots, the Jacobites and the history of Scotch Malt Whisky.


Daniel is a regular on the Scottish comedy scene, regularly hosting and performing at Monkey Barrel Comedy club. Daniel’s comedy walking tour the ‘Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh’ leaves every afternoon from Monkey Barrel, is ranked no.1 on TripAdvisor and was included in TripAdvisor’s ‘Top ten things to do in the UK’.
